You know that feeling when you’re the newbie in a group and everyone else has known one another for years? And it’s suddenly your turn to stand up and introduce yourself? The sweaty hands, the frantic rehearsal in your brain, hoping you don’t forget your name or have crumbs on your sweater? It’s so uncomfortable, so frightening.
That’s a little how I feel right now, jumping into this whole blogging thing so late in the game. It seems like everyone else has been blogging for years and I’m this little scared girl in the corner, terrified to introduce herself.
To make it a little easier on myself, I’m going to do this as quickly as possible (a la ripping off the band-aid). Just a quick overview to get us started and then I hope that over the coming months and years we can get to know one another so well that we forget how it felt to be strangers.
So here goes…
Hi, my name is Lynette, and I’m a writer. I’m in my mid-thirties, I have a great husband who from here on out I’ll refer to as “the man” and a beautiful five month old little boy who we’ll call “chunk” who changed my life completely when he came into the world.
We have two black and white border collies who round out our little family and keep us on our toes.
“Boo” is 12 and too smart for her own good. She loves frisbee more than life itself and would rather play than eat.
Our other dog, “Stinky,” is 4 and loves firstly to chase squirrels and secondly to be in charge of every dog and human in sight. She’s our crafty one, the dog who learned to open all the doors in the house. Border collies are certainly a challenge but I couldn’t imagine our life without them.
We recently moved to Portland OR from Austin, TX. It’s been a rough move, especially with this expanding family, but we’re hoping to get settled before the holidays and with any luck by this time next year we won’t even remember how hard this part of our lives was.
I published my first full length novel in April, right before chunk was born and then promptly disappeared from the internet and into the throes of spitup and laundry and late-night feedings. It’s been wonderful and I wouldn’t give it up for anything, but I’m looking forward to getting back to writing and back in touch with the world of romance and fiction.
And that’s about it for this quick introduction! I hope you’ll stick around and get to know me a little better over the next few months. And if you’re feeling friendly, why not leave me a comment or shoot me a message to say hi and introduce yourself? I’m looking forward to it!
